The Skin Care Campaign

The Skin Care CampaignThe Skin Care Campaign is an alliance of patient groups, companies and other organisations with a common interest in skin health. It is administered by the National Eczema Society.

The Skin Care Campaign enjoys the professional support of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Dermatological Nursing Group and the Primary Care Dermatology Society, the Health Education Authority and the Health and Safety Executive.

Why Are We Here? Skin disease is a major and widespread treatment area for the medical profession.

It is estimated that 15% of the UK population consult their general practitioner (GP) for skin complaints each year, occupying 10% of a GP’s time.

Skin disease, often of a chronic, long-term and painful nature, is significant and widespread, affecting a projected 22.5 - 33% of the population at any one time.

The problems of living with skin disease should not be under-estimated. They impact on all aspects of a patient’s life and those who care for them.

The Skin Care Campaign works to encourage and enable people to look after their skin properly and to assure the highest possible standards of health care provision for people with skin diseases.
